The Chairman of RPF Inkotanyi this Friday addressed his first rally of the 2017 Presidential campaign in Ruhango town of Ruhango District, where over 100,000 people, mainly residents of the district, had gathered.
Addressing them, the Chairman, who is the flagbearer for RPF Inkotanyi in the elections slated for August, thanked the party for its continued trust in him.
“I thank RPF and its members for the trust you have put in me. I owe my candidacy to your support,” he said amid cheers from the tens of thousands of supporters.
He added: “RPF brought unity to this nation. We may have different views but we are all united by being Rwandans and building our country.”
Meanwhile, the chairman took time to thank all those parties that chose to ally themselves with the RPF Inkotanyi by supporting its flagbearer, saying that this underpins the peculiar context (ubudasa) of our country.
Leaders of the eight political parties – Liberal Party (PL),Social Democratic Party (PSD), Centrist Democratic Party (PDC), Ideal Democratic Party (PDI),the Democratic Union of the Rwandan People (UDPR),Workers’ Party (PSR),the Party for Progress and Concord (PPC) and the Progressive Prosperity and Solidarity Party (PSP) – attended the rally in Ruhango.
He said that Rwandans should pay no attention to those critics who blame Rwandans for elections with a clear favoured winner and call it undemocratic, saying that Rwandans already spoke in December 2015 during the referendum.
“Pretending not to know the will expressed by the people during the referendum would be a lie, not democracy… you can choose not to hear the truth but you cannot deny what your eyes show you here today.”
The Chairman’s next stop will be in Nyanza, also in the Southern Province, where thousands were by mid-morning, were already waiting for him to address them.
