Members of the RPF Inkotanyi in the Northern Province met in a general assembly on Sunday to consolidate views from the five districts to be part of the manifesto for the party’s flag bearer in the Presidential elections slated for next year.
The views are being collected from the village level and will be put in to the document that will detail the roadmap for the RPF candidate during the seven year term (2017-24).
During the event on Sunday, all the five districts that constitute the province advanced several proposals that are premised on the four pillars of good governance, justice sector development, social welfare and economic development.
The activity saw was presided over by RPF Commissioner Wellars Gasamagera saw districts advancing their respective demands, some of them specific while others were general.
Among the specific proposals by the RPF leaders in the districts of Northern Province was the request for a road that is to serve as the northern belt, which will link the districts of Rulindo, Gicumbi to Nyagatare.
This, they said, will ease the movement of commodities and ease access to market especially for the farmers looking at enhancing agricultural output.
They also demanded that the services of the Access to Justice Bureaus (MAJ) that are currently at districts, be decentralised to the sector level to ensure more people get the judicial assistance offered by these offices.
They also requested for more penetration of electricity in the province, especially in the rural parts saying that this was required to ensure more economic activities in the quest to increase off-farm jobs and also add value to agricultural produce.
New leaders elected
During the same event, Jean Claude Musabyimana, the provincial governor was elected as the RPF Chairman in the Northern Province, replacing Aime Bosenibamwe.
Bosenibamwe, who is the outgoing governor, had to resign this post owing to the fact that he no longer works nor reside from the province.
At the same time, Jules Muhizi was elected as vice chairman of the RPF in the province, replacing Mathias Rupia, who had previously resigned.
The newly elected officials immediately resumed their duties after a hand over.
