The RPF Chairman, President Paul Kagame on Thursday paid tribute to the late senior member of the RPF Inkotanyi, Jean de Dieu Mucyo, who passed away early this week.
Mucyo, who had also held different senior government offices, passed away on Monday, following an accident at the parliamentary premises, where he slipped on the stairs and succumbed a few minutes later at King Faisal Hospital.
“Senator Mucyo was a modest and hardworking leader who would not sway under the weight of responsibilities,” the Chairman said of Mucyo, who has served both as Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General.
The head of state said this during the function to swear in new ministers who were appointed to cabinet earlier this week.
Those who took oath of office included Esperance Nyirasafari, as new Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Vincent Munyeshyaka, Minister of State in charge of Socio-Economic Development in the Ministry of Local Government, Isaac Munyakazi, Minister of State in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education in the Ministry of Education.
Others were Evode Uwizeyimana, Minister of State in charge of Constitutional and Legal Affairs in the Ministry of Justice and Fulgence Nsengiyumva, Minister of State in Charge of Agriculture in the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources.
“I congratulate the new leaders and ask them to take the oath and appointment with the weight they deserve,” he told the new cabinet members.
President Kagame urged leaders to execute their responsibilities with diligence and a sense of urgency.
“We are making progress but we should always think of how to do more, and make it a culture to not be satisfied with what we have achieved. Everyone complains about bureaucracy but you each play a role in sustaining it. We have to keep working to do better and faster,” he said.
President Kagame urged the new leaders to aim higher and those who have been replaced to continue making contribution in their next appointments as well as their communities.
