The RPF Chairman, President Paul Kagame was on Monday evening decorated with the Grand Collar of Wissam Al-Mohammadi, Morocco’s highest national award of honour.
This medal was bestowed to him by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in Morocco on his first day of his official visit to the north African country.
On arrival in Morocco, the Chairman was welcomed by the Prime Minister, Abdel-Ilah Benkiran, the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat Region, the Governor of the Nouaceur Province and the elected officials and civilian and military representatives of the Nouaceur Prefecture.
In observance of the holy month of Ramadan, an Official “Iftar” hosted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in honour of President Paul Kagame was also held on Monday evening.
Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo, said the visit aimed at further strengthening the already existing cordial relations between the two countries.
“This state visit is an important opportunity to define lines of cooperation that would be beneficial for our two countries.”
During the visit, President Kagame is also expected to meet with members of the Moroccan private sector.
The two countries are expected to agree on a general cooperation framework, which will inform more specific cooperation agreements in the future.
