RPF members in Base Sector donate cows to vulnerable residents

Members of RPF Inkotanyi in Base Sector of Rulindo District over the weekend held a community outreach exercise, during which they donated cows to 12 vulnerable families living in the area.

Members of RPF Inkotanyi in Base Sector of Rulindo District over the weekend held a community outreach exercise, during which they donated cows to 12 vulnerable families living in the area.

Addressing the gathering at the handover of the cows, Ignace Mbatezimana, the RPF Chairman at the sector level, outlined to the members the achievements registered mainly in the agriculture sector, where the farmers have embraced modern practices, which has led to prosperity for many.

This, he said, should form basis for them to even work hard as members of the party and serve as an example to the rest of the members in their respective communities.

One of the beneficiaries was Benita Ntezimana, an orphan who is also visually impaired said she was very happy with the cow she received, attributing the gesture to the leadership of the RPF Chairman, President Paul Kagame, who initiated the Gir’Inka programme that is aimed at ensuring every Rwandan, irrespective of their social standing, must at least get milk at home.

She pledged to take very good care of the cow she was given to ensure it gives her maximum output.

Another beneficiary, Consiriya Ubuzukwagira, said getting the cow was a golden opportunity for her to feed milk to her grandchildren which will shield them from malnutrition, adding that she will also use it to get manure for her farm, which will improve on the output.

During the event, 38 members of the RPF Inkotanyi within the sector were also sworn in, while various discussions were held, including one aimed at encouraging the residents to take advantage of Rwanda’s membership to regional blocs like the EAC, to engage in cross-border trade.
